Tradition with passion

Andreas, Christina & Manfred

In our guesthouse, everyone helps wherever a hand is needed. Junior manager Andreas is in charge of operations, coordinates all bookings, takes care of breakfast and, together with his mother Christine, looks after the guests’ physical well-being in winter. Senior manager Manfred is known for his warm and relaxed service and is always on hand with tips for excursions or the region. When he is not with his guests, on the mountain pasture or in the forest, he is involved in preserving traditions. His wife Christine looks after the well-kept rooms, homemade jams and the beautiful flower arrangements. She provides delicious desserts in winter and fresh vegetables from the garden in summer. Together they create a warm atmosphere that will make your stay unforgettable.

The foundation stone of our house

In the early 1970s, inspired by the burgeoning tourism industry in Salzburg’s Pinzgau region, Theresia and Anton Mayerhofer decided to set up a guesthouse to “rent out guest rooms”. Without any in-depth knowledge of gastronomy, they started building their guesthouse in 1973. The initial offer was mainly aimed at guests seeking the mountain idyll from May to September, while winter sports only gained in importance later. The three-storey building shell with 11 guest rooms, all equipped with showers and toilets – a progressive decision at the time – was largely built by Anton, a trained bricklayer, himself. The first wing was completed in 1976, and Theresia and Anton ran the business with the support of their children until 1990.

Nowadays

Today, the Pension Mayerhofer presents itself with modern amenities and expanded capacities. After an extension originally planned for fire protection measures in 2000, this grew into a larger wing, which now includes an inviting restaurant and 11 additional guest rooms. The renovation of the old building resulted in two more comfortable units being created from three old rooms, meaning that the guesthouse now offers 17 well-equipped rooms. Andreas Mayerhofer has been an integral part of the business since 2013. In 2020, he took over full management of the guesthouse from his parents. Under his leadership and motivated by the challenges of the corona pandemic, the rooms were renovated after the 2020 summer season in order to continue to offer guests the highest level of comfort and contemporary facilities.
